Dissertation (English)
Module code: EN3010 (double module)
The English Dissertation is your opportunity to directly shape your curriculum by carrying out research on an author or topic of your own choice. Your work will be guided by a supervisor, but you will set the goals. Some students use this third-year module to develop an aspect of their previous studies that has really excited or intrigued them, others strike out in new directions; sometimes the dissertation paves the way to postgraduate study. Carrying out independent research is in many ways the culmination of the undergraduate experience in English which is a discipline that places a premium on knowledge created by students in their encounters with literature and language.
