Nonlinear Control

Module code: EG7044

This module will equip you with advanced knowledge and skills in nonlinear control systems, addressing the limitations of linear analysis techniques. You will explore and apply nonlinear methods such as phase-portraits and state-space analysis, and conduct stability assessments using Lyapunov's second method. The concept of passivity will be introduced for analysing interconnected systems, alongside evaluating Lur'e systems using Circle and Popov Criteria. Emphasis is placed on nonlinear control design methods, including feedback linearisation and backstepping, with practical applications to real-world problems. By critically assessing the utility of nonlinear methods in engineering, you will be well-prepared to design, analyse, and implement nonlinear control systems.
