Materials and Structures

In this module you'll learn to design structures against failure caused by fixed loads and loads that vary as an engineering product is operated (fatigue). To do this the module will teach you how to calculate the stresses on different types of structure, and the strength and other properties of important engineering materials. The science of how material properties are changed will also be covered so that you can pick appropriate materials, or specialise in materials science later in your degree.
