Pedagogy: Lead Module

This first module of the Pedagogy pathway creates a firm foundation for developing a deep and critical understanding of the dynamics of learning and teaching within and beyond the classroom. This module focuses on the different philosophical foundations which inform the notion of ‘education’ from a variety of cultures as a basis for considering the basic foundations of pedagogy, learning, curriculum and assessment. As the issues within pedagogy continue to develop at a rapid pace, we also consider some of the current developments in pedagogical research, including the role of ICT, neuroscience, and alternative approaches to learning. Throughout the module, the issues above will be set within an international context to help develop a global comparison of educational systems.
