Introductory Econometrics
Module code: EC2010
Econometrics is the branch of economics that uses mathematical and statistical models to describe economic theories, and it applies these models to predict future trends from established data. This module will help you to undertake standard hypothesis testing and manipulate data to the best form for mathematical model estimation.
You will be introduced to OLS (ordinary least square) regression analysis, its uses and problems and what you can do when its classical assumptions fail. You will discuss and learn to differentiate between functional forms and learn to assess how suitable they are for estimating economic models.
