In this module, you will explore the processes of crime scene examination, ranging from the initial assessment to the preservation of crime scenes. Not only will you consider the health and safety issues at crime scenes, but also the different types of evidence and possible contamination risks. The module covers the recovery methods for various trace evidence such as hair, fibre, paint, glass, soil, fingerprints, and DNA, as well as gunshot residue. You will also learn how to tailor your assessment strategy for different offence types.
