Research

Our multidisciplinary research team aims to improve the health and wellbeing of populations in the UK and worldwide. It leads multiple national and international research partnerships and grants with a focus on generating evidence that can be translated into policy and practice.

Capacity building

The team have over two decades of experience in supporting health and social care practitioners, and those from other disciplines including the humanities and social sciences to develop their research skills from MSc through to PhD and post-doctoral training. We have a track record in securing funding to support early career researchers through collaborations with the NHS, industry and the NIHR Integrated Clinical and Practitioner Academic Programme including the highly competitive NIHR Doctoral Clinical and Practitioner Academic Fellowship.

We invite applications for postgraduate research training from home and international students to join our vibrant team of health, social and behavioural science researchers. In joining our team at the University of Leicester, you will have access to the University’s Doctoral College which has a large and diverse portfolio of training courses. In accessing the Doctoral College, you will become part of a community of postgraduate research students, research staff and early career academics providing you with a wider network to complement the local support from your supervisory team and research team within the School of Healthcare.

Developing and evaluating complex interventions

Our team’s expertise spans a range of methodological disciplines including behavioural medicine, realist approaches, psychometric testing and qualitative methods including nominal group technique and co-design. This diversity in the team’s strengths affords us the requisite skills for developing and evaluating complex interventions. This has contributed to our success in securing significant competitive grant funding to develop interventions.
