British Heart Foundation open access policy

How do I comply?

Deposit in Europe PMC, to be made freely available as soon as possible and no later than 6 months after publication, the final published version or the final authors accepted manuscript (AAM) of each peer-reviewed primary research paper or non-commissioned review article, supported in whole or in part by BHF funding.

Many publishers will deposit into Europe PMC (or into PubMed Central, from where it is mirrored to Europe PMC) for you, please check with your publisher. If you are required to do it yourself it is a simple process, further information is available on the Europe PMC website.

Are there funds available to pay for gold open access?

We receive a block grant from BHF managed by the University Library. Apply using this form.

Which license should I choose?

In the case of immediate (Gold) open access, authors and publishers should license research papers using the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC-BY 4.0).
