Samples
The University of Leicester Cancer Research Biobank is currently focussing on projects that generate samples from consented patients attending outpatient clinics at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester General Hospital.
Samples held are from various projects to include Breast, Lung, Melanoma, Colorectal and Neuroendocrine cancers. Projects have also been approved for the collection of Head and Neck tumours, Endometrial, Ovarian, Liver, Pancreatic and Kidney cancers.
Current sample collections held in the biobank are:
- Blood - buffy coats, packed red blood cells, plasma, ascites and serum
- Frozen tissue samples
- Formalin Fixed paraffin Embedded (FFPE) tissue samples
