Why take the DELE?
The Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) is an internationally recognised qualification endorsing the degree of competence and mastery of Spanish language, granted by Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain, to those who pass the exam.
The Diploma can help you to improve your employment prospects and in seeking further education since it is widely recognised by businesses, public and educational institutions worldwide.
The DELE examination provides for all the different variants of the Spanish language. They are all considered as valid to obtain the diploma.
Levels
The DELE examinations have been designed following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe, which ensures a practical way of establishing a standard, international and objective measurement of the level that should be reached at each teaching stage, and in evaluating results.

DELE exams free preparation session
In order to help people prepare for the exam we offer a free training session which aims to prepare candidates registered to take the DELE exam, at any level*, to undertake the four tests. The objective is to familiarize participants with the DELE exams formats, its requirements and the level of performance that would be expected to pass. This training also intends to reduce anxiety, boost participants’ confidence and improve their chances of success. Therefore, this training doesn’t aim to improve your language proficiency, but to reduce barriers to allow you to fully demonstrate your language skills and knowledge.
*Registered candidates, at all levels from A1 till C2, are welcome to join in.
The training is arranged into four different topics. Each topic will focus on one of the four language skills that are assessed through the DELE assessments (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
The free preparation session takes place within a fortnight and a week before the exam date. Registered candidates will receive information about this session a week after the 'deadline for registrations' by email.
