The following short video-clips illustrate the involvement of the European Petrophysics Consortium (EPC) in the coordination of downhole logging operations and the acquisition of core physical properties measurements from a number of IODP expeditions. The footage is from the mission specific platform (MSP) Expeditions 302, 310, 313, 325 347 and 364, undertaken by the ECORD Science Operator (ESO). Also included is Expedition 318 and 321, conducted by the United States Implementing Organization (USIO) with their riserless drilling vessel JOIDES Resolution. Footage for Expedition 343, operated by the Center for Deep Earth Exploration (CDEX) with their riser equipped vessel Chikyu, is also presented.

In April and May of 2016 the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Science Operator (ESO) carried out the Mission Specific Platform Expedition 364, Chicxulub Impact Crater, on board the "Liftboat Myrtle". This was followed by the Onshore Science Party (OSP) in Bremen, Germany, where standard measurements are recorded on the recovered core. This video shows a typical 15 hour shift in the petrophysics lab during the OSP, condensed into 90 seconds.

In September and October 2013 the ECORD Science Operator (ESO) carried out the Mission Specific Platform Expedition 347, Baltic Sea Paleoenvironment, on board the "Greatship Manisha". The video conveys science and life on board.

Expedition 343 (JFAST) was undertaken by the Japanese Implementing Organization, Center for Deep Earth Exploration (CDEX) at the Japan Agency for Marine Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), employing the drill ship Chikyu. The main goal of the expedition was to understand the very large fault slip that occurred on the shallow portion of the subduction zone during the Tohoku earthquake, that led to the devastating Tsunami of 2011. Downhole logging highlights from Expedition 325, Great Barrier Reef Environmental Changes (GBREC) in 2010. Expedition 325 was a Mission Specific Platform (MSP) expedition undertaken by the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Science Operator (ESO).

This video is an extract from “PNN Background Story Special Report on Core Flow” and provides an overview of downhole logging operations and core physical properties measurements coordinated by the Borehole Research Group at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University and the European Petrophysics Consortium during IODP Expedition 321, Pacific Equatorial Age Transect (PEAT) Expedition, in 2009. Downhole logging highlights from Expedition 318, Wilkes Land Glacial History, Antarctica, 2010. Expedition 318 was undertaken by the United States Implementing Organization (USIO) with the Drillship the JOIDES Resolution. Videoclip courtesy of USIO/IODP.

Downhole logging highlights from Expedition 313, the New Jersey Shallow Shelf Expedition in 2009. Expedition 313 was a Mission Specific Platform (MSP) expedition undertaken by the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Science Operator (ESO).

Downhole logging highlights from Expedition 310, Tahiti Sea Level Expedition in 2005. Expedition 310 was a Mission Specific Platform (MSP) expedition undertaken by the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Science Operator (ESO).

Downhole logging highlights from Expedition 302, ACEX Arctic Coring Expedition in 2004. ACEX was a Mission Specific Platform (MSP) expedition undertaken by the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Science Operator (ESO).
