Geography at Leicester
About Geography at Leicester
We have state-of-the-art facilities including physical geography labs and a dedicated student study area to help enhance our students' university experience. Our degrees also provide fantastic field course opportunities (many subsidised by the University) to locations such as the Amazon, Berlin, Vancouver and California.
We are also proud to provide outstanding student support for careers and personal development, helping our students achieve their goals.
We are a Government-funded Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Geographical Information Science. We also have the longest-running GIS MSc in England, with a near-perfect graduate employment record, and accreditation by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Our research section contains details of the research strengths of the department, including descriptions of many projects that we are working on, and our School's outreach activities include our lectures for schools programme and A-level enrichment workshops.
We are committed to Equal Opportunities Issues through our everyday working practices with students and other staff colleagues. We will attempt to make reasonable adjustments to field trips for students with health issues, we will consider equalities issues in our teaching content and practice, and we will monitor and attempt to address disincentives and indirect obstacles to recruitment, retention and progression in staff careers.
