College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities

CSSAH Postgraduate fund 2024/25

The College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities has set aside funding in 2024/25 for bursaries for postgraduate research students who are post-probation and do not have access to other funds (i.e. self-funded primarily). Those in receipt of fees-only scholarships may apply. The maximum allocation will be for £300 per PGR per year. PGRs can apply more than once (min. £50), but only to a maximum of £300 over the course of the year.

The fund is available for financial assistance to present at conferences (including conference fees, travel and accommodation); training to support research and travel for data collection.

Note that the PGR Fund does not cover costs of downloads or reproductions; proof reading; etc. It also does not cover conference attendance only; activities unrelated to thesis; registration/membership costs; subsistence; consumables; books; equipment; research assistance; RA employment.

Applications must spell out related costs and have supporting documentation. It is essential that applicants have a supporting reference from their supervisor/s for any applications.

Students must apply by:

  • 26 October 2024: for activities in November, December and January (retrospective applications for August to October are permitted) (now closed);
  • 26 December 2024: for activities in February, March and April
  • 26 March 2025: for activities in May, June and July.

Applications are then considered by a panel by the start of the next month.
