Growing global demand for data-driven decision-making is transforming industries. Organisations are increasingly recognising the value of leveraging data. The MSc in Business Analytics is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the pivotal role that data plays in shaping business decisions. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to effectively analyse complex datasets, enabling you to drive strategic initiatives within organisations. 

Throughout the course you will master key analytical techniques and tools and apply these to real-world business scenarios. This will give you a practical understanding of how big data can be leveraged to enhance organisational performance and drive strategic initiatives within various industries.   

In your modules you will engage with fundamental and diverse topics in business analytics, such as data visualisation and analysis, programming skills, statistical analysis, marketing principles and future market trends, plus the impact of technology and sustainability. Your dissertation will allow you to apply your learning to practical business analytics challenges.

A good second-class honours degree or its equivalent from a recognised institution, or a relevant graduate level professional qualification; 

Or a demonstration of considerable relevant practical experience and evidence of the ability to cope with the demands of the course.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.

Teaching and learning

This programme benefits from the opportunity to start your studies at three different points in the year (September, January and April).  Whenever you start your studies you will receive a dedicated induction, study the same selection of modules and do the same assessments.  The order in which you study your modules and the timing of teaching blocks for each start point may vary according to the University's teaching calendar.

You will be taught through a mixture of methods including seminars, lectures, group work, case study analysis and guided reading.  You will be assigned a personal tutor who has a pastoral role and can offer support and advice.  Additionally, you can benefit from workshops, visiting speakers and industry visits.
