This degree will provide you with a coherent selection of electrical and electronic engineering subjects to advanced level. Module combinations include communications and signal processing through control engineering to electrical machines and drives.

Entry requirements

Good second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.

An additional fee of £3,520 will be charged if a placement is secured.

If you are resident outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland, you will need to pay a deposit of £3,000 to secure your place. This will be subtracted from your total tuition fee.

Whether or not you opt for the ‘with industry’ variant of the course, it is designed to give you the tools to work towards a career in a wide variety of fields in the engineering and technical industries.

After completing all the modules, you will apply the knowledge you have gained throughout the course to solving an engineering problem at a professional level. You will define the nature of the problem and draw up plans for tackling it, presented as a formal proposal (including a financial costing). Your project supervisor will meet regularly with you for feedback on the project.

Studying a 'with industry' masters degree is the perfect way for you to enhance your career prospects and deepen your understanding of your specific area of expertise. This will not only showcase your abilities to future employers, but will also enhance your studies when you return to University to complete your programme.

Teaching and learning

Teaching methods include lectures and seminars supported by practical and lab work. Assessment is a mix of open and closed exams and continuous assessment. Your dissertation will be assessed separately.
