MedRACE Alumni

Involvement in MedRACE and our projects can continue after our students have graduated from Leicester Medical School. We are delighted that many of our past students have continued their link with MedRACE, some as honorary Teaching Fellows.

Alumni Voices

Hear from some of our alumni on what participation on MedRACE has meant to them, and how they are continuing to be involved.

These videos were recorded ahead of the MedRACE Open Meeting in November 2023. Our thanks to the MedRACE alumni for allowing us to share their experiences.

I had the privilege of helping organise...one of our first events for Black History Month, where we hosted Miss Samantha Tross, one of the first female black orthopaedic surgeons in the UK. It was really amazing event, especially being able to hear her story...and it was a really inspiring talk for so many people.

Daniel Refaat (2022 Graduate)

I've had an amazing time with MedRACE, we’ve accomplished amazing things...the first place that I know of that has medical students sitting on the panel to hire staff. Medical students, even sitting on the [recruitment] panel to hire the head of the Med School...I'm so happy to continue to be on the kind of MedRACE journey as an honorary teaching fellow.

Divine Maduka (2023 Graduate)

We have all of these ideas as students and MedRACE allows us to work on them and actually bring them into life...and we were able to see all of these changes actually happen within our curriculum which was so great.

Kike Solanke (2022 Graduate)

Having my own medical students, it's good that I can have confidence in teaching and that's something that MedRACE definitely gave me, as well as skills for advocacy and accessibility
