Living costs
Leicester has been recognised as one of the UK's most affordable student destinations. How much you spend will vary according to your lifestyle. Students applying for a Student Visa will be required to demonstrate that they have money for any course fees, plus £1,023 for living costs each calendar month of your course. Accommodation
There is a wide variety of rooms available through our University halls of residence. We recommend that you choose University accommodation, although there are private providers in Leicester which you could also consider.
Bus pass
There's a regular, dedicated bus service between The Village and the University campus, so it's nice and easy to get to and from your lectures and the library. Passes are free for students staying in The Village accommodation.

Bedding, bathroom and kitchen supplies
If your choice of room does not include linens you can purchase one of the supply packs available at the Shop@le. These packs can be pre-ordered and will be delivered to your room in time for your arrival.
Gym membership
There are two main gyms at the University of Leicester that offer pitches, courts, sauna, steam, swimming pools, sports halls, activity rooms, intramural sports teams and fitness classes.
Meals
We have a number of food outlets on campus and at our halls of residence, as well as a huge variety of restaurants, cafes and shops near the campus and in the city centre.
NUS/TOTUM student discount card
Students are welcome to join the National Union of Students (NUS) during their studies, and can sign up for a TOTUM card, giving them access to a wide range of student discounts.
Police registration
Depending on the terms and conditions of your visa, you may be asked to register with the police when you arrive. Charges may apply.
