Security technology
The university security team operates a CCTV control room with over 900 cameras 24/7 365 days a year.
We utilise multiple technologies to support us in our role and help keep you safe on campus, such as body worn cameras, digital radios and Safezone.
The team
The University of Leicester has a variety of roles within our team. We have the Head of Security, Operations Managers, Team Managers, Deputy Team Mangers, Control Room Operators and Security Patrollers. All roles are specialist roles within the Security Industry and GDPR and Data Protection are at the heart of our role.
Interactions with students, staff and members of the public is an especially important aspect of our jobs and providing world class customers service is our top priority.
I joined the Security department at the University in 2014 as a control room operator and progressed to my current position as Security Team Manager. I enjoy my job as no two days are the same. I get to interact with many diverse people within our community whether it be to offer advice and support or to help them in their hour of need.
