Wordsworth 2020
Activities and events
Wordsworth, Water, Writing
A free two-day, two-part interdisciplinary conference, co-organised with Dr Chris Donaldson of the University of Lancaster, was hosted online on 10 September, 2020 and 8 January 2021. The conferences featured contributions from scholars of Wordsworth's poetry and Romantic Studies, as well as from creative writers, geographers and historians of the Lake District. A recording of Professor Tim Fulford's presentation is available online.
Participants in these conferences were invited to contribute short creative responses to a stream, river, lake or waterway of personal importance to them, which were then uploaded to Google My Maps: Words Written on Water.
Still Glides the Stream
An exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the publication of Wordsworth's The River Duddon took place at the Wordsworth Museum, Grasmere, in the summer of 2021, and was accompanied by an online presentation event.
Sensory Reading
Impact and engagement activities with 5 Leicester schools led to the award of AHRC Follow-on Funding in 2023 for Sensory Reading: New Approaches to Teaching and Learning GCSE English Literature.
