Pre-Modern Towns Group
The Pre Modern Towns Group is an informal, interdisciplinary association of historians, archaeologists, archivists and others which has been meeting since 1978. We aim to reflect current research on any aspect of the historical study of towns in Britain and Europe from the early medieval period to the eighteenth century. Our meetings combine papers from new researchers and from more established scholars. Recent themes have included 'Sex and the (pre-modern) city', 'Migrants and minorities in the pre-modern town' and 'Health in the pre-modern town'. The annual meeting of the group is usually held on the last Saturday in January at the IHR.
The meeting is open to all, and reduced rates are available to postgraduate students.
