A brief history of the Department

Although the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology was only formed in 2015 it has a much longer history. The department was formed from staff of the Department of Biochemistry together with staff of the Department of Cell Physiology and Pharmacology.

Dr Henrik Melin, of the University of Leicester, has been awarded a five-year Fellowship to study the giant planets using the James Webb Space Telescope, funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), with support from the University of Leicester.
