Department of Physics and Astronomy

Department of Physics and Astronomy

We are a world-class centre for teaching and research. We are one of only three UK physics departments to have been awarded the prestigious status of Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).

We have strong links with space agencies and world-leading industrial partners, and are home to the only formal UK science lead for the Juno mission, NASA's programme to study our solar system's largest planet, Jupiter. Discover more about space research at Leicester.

"I chose Leicester due to its expertise in space research. The University’s reputation in this field was something I was already aware of."
