Profile
Prior to joining the University of Leicester, Dr Baserinia served as a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at De Montfort University for nearly seven years. During this time, he held the position of Programme Director for the MEng/BEng Mechanical Engineering programme, where he led curriculum development, quality assurance, and student engagement initiatives. He taught a range of core modules including Engineering Design, Mechanical Principles, CAD & FEA, and Machines & Mechanisms, contributing significantly to both teaching excellence and programme innovation.
Dr Baserinia’s research lies at the intersection of additive manufacturing, powder flow characterisation, experimental validation, and numerical modelling. His work has significantly advanced understanding of powder behaviour in pharmaceutical and manufacturing contexts, with several publications cited widely in the field. Dr Baserinia supervises a diverse portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research students, and welcomes enquiries from prospective researchers interested in powder technology, additive manufacturing, and pharmaceutical processing subject areas.
Dr Baserinia holds a PhD (2016) and an MSc (2011) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leicester. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
