Profile

Linda is a social science researcher with a strong interest in public involvement in research. She started her career in nursing before moving into teaching and research. Her PhD explored the competing responsibilities and obligations of male family carers as they balanced paid and unpaid work. Since 2010 she has developed an extensive research portfolio with a central focus on how social structures and systems shape people’s experience of health and research. She draws on a variety of research methods, having enhanced understanding and skills in qualitative methods and process evaluation. 

In her role as LOROS Associate Professor Linda is working with the LOROS Centre for Excellence developing their research theme into the experiences of family carers at end-of-life, critically evaluating ways that communities and health and social care services may support families at this time. Linda’s research activity primarily focuses on community and care home settings ensuring that evidence-based understanding of care leads to changes in practice.
