Profile
I have been at the University of Leicester since 1983, graduating with a BSc in Chemistry with Geochemistry in 1986 (I also have a BA in Humanities with Philosophy and an MA in Philosophy, both from the Open University). I have worked in the School of Engineering since 1989 as a Computer Officer, Senior Teaching Fellow, Lecturer, and (since January 2022) Associate Professor. I have been the School's senior tutor for many years and am also the first year tutor, exams officer and AccessAbility tutor. I am also a member of the University's Student Welfare Committee and the Student Discipline Committee.
Research
I am on a teaching-dominant contract and do not undertake Engineering research.
Supervision
I do not supervise research students.
Teaching
I teach on a variety of modules including first and second year design and experimentation, computational engineering methods in the second year, design project management in the fourth year, and the taught postgraduate design case study. Most years I also supervise third and fourth year undergraduate projects. My main interest is the interface between programming and electronics.
