World-leading empathy healthcare centre set to expand
A centre which is pioneering medical education that creates compassionate doctors and nurses for the NHS is expanding its team.
The Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Healthcare, based at the University of Leicester, is at the forefront of world-leading research into empathic healthcare education for medical staff and how it benefits healthcare professionals and leads to better outcomes for patients.
Its award-winning team has developed a range of courses which are driving forward empathic healthcare training for medical students and established healthcare professionals across the UK.
It now wants to expand its team by recruiting for three key positions – a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, a Lecturer of Wellbeing Teaching for Medical Students and Healthcare Professionals and an Associate Professor and Programme Director for its Undergraduate and Graduate Empathy Studies.
Centre director Jeremy Howick said: “We are an academic Centre of Excellence and are on a mission to provide the NHS with the most empathic, compassionate and resilient healthcare professionals.
“Our centre is internationally recognised for its world-leading research and for delivering a radical empathy-focussed programme of training at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels.
“In the past year we’ve presented our work on the global stage, spearheaded the launch of The International Network for Empathy in Healthcare, initiated empathy education awards and delivered ground-breaking training to students and healthcare professionals so there really couldn’t be a more exciting time to join us.
“We’re thrilled to be recruiting for these three key positions which will further strengthen our team and help us to drive forward our ambitious plans.”
Recruitment for the roles ends on 30 September.
