Make your mark in space at Leicester’s SpaceUp ‘unconference’
Space Park Leicester is the headline sponsor for the SpaceUp ‘unconference’ taking place at Dock in Leicester on 16th November.
If you’re itching to express your ideas about space, Leicester’s SpaceUp unconference is your chance. The event features a format of talks, grid sessions, and discussion topics where everyone attending will be able to contribute their ideas. You get to decide the topics, schedule, and shape of the day.
For those keen to give a presentation with slides, a T-5 talk is just the thing. Each speaker gets 5 minutes to talk, with 20 slides that rotate automatically every 15 seconds. A grid session can take a few different formats: a presentation with Q&A, a demo, a panel of experts, or a roundtable. And if you want to take part in a SpaceUp but can’t be there in person, you can send in a one-minute video of yourself that can be played to the crowd, just like a mini T-5 talk.
Grant Bourhill, CEO of Leicester Science Parks, said: “I’m so pleased we’re hosting SpaceUp again this year, last year’s event was so well received and I’m sure this year will only build on that success. Bringing space enthusiasts together this way offers us the opportunity to really understand what space means to people from across the board and factor this in to our future plans.”
SpaceUp Leicester is organised by R&R Space Ltd, a local company formed by two graduates Ryan Laird and Ryan Bradley-Evans from the University of Leicester. R&R Space is an event organiser focused on space entrepreneurship, which seeks to break down the formal barriers of entering the space industry, inspiring non-space groups into utilising space applications to help foster innovation.
Ryan Laird said: “Our first event last year was a real success and we’re looking forward to building on that. SpaceUp offers a unique opportunity for anyone interested in space to share their thoughts, observations and theories – the event really proves that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to get involved with space.”
SpaceUp unconference takes place on 16 November 2019 at Dock on Exploration Drive in Leicester from 8.30am to 6.00pm - tickets are available to buy now.
