Michael Flanagan appointed Director of Estates and Campus Services

The University of Leicester is delighted to announce that Michael Flanagan will be joining us to lead our Estates and Campus Services Division.

Mr Flanagan is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with a range of experience in the public, private and third sectors. He is currently the Director of Estates and Facilities at the University of Greenwich, where he has delivered a number of key projects including a student and academic hub at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, a social space at Medway and a new sports development at Avery Hill.

Prior to his time at Greenwich, Mr Flanagan was Director at Lambert Smith Hampton, the largest regional property consultancy in the UK, where he provided strategic property, procurement and development consultancy advice for key government agencies.

At Leicester he will assume a leading role in delivering our long-term campus development strategy, overseeing the ongoing development of the Percy Gee building, the School of Business at Brookfield and the Freemen’s Student Village.

On joining the University, Mr Flanagan said: “The University of Leicester is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities and has an excellent reputation for transformative teaching, widening participation and capital investment. This is a truly exceptional opportunity to join a strong and ambitious senior management team.

“I’m looking forward to sharing my expertise from both my public and private sector experience, and moving forward with the campus development strategy to help shape and define the future of research, teaching and student experience at Leicester.”
