Leicester ranked in UK top 25 universities

The latest international university rankings have reaffirmed Leicester’s position as a leading global institution.

The Times Higher Education World Rankings have placed the University 167th in the world. The ranking places the University ahead of some Russell Group Universities, and in the 25 best universities in the UK.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the world’s most comprehensive and carefully calibrated global rankings. It is the only global university performance table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

"We are delighted to be cited amongst the leading institutions in the world. This is further endorsement of the world-class status of the University of Leicester and this league table’s focus on research and internationalisation reflects our real strengths."

Professor Paul Boyle, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester

Leicester consistently performs well in global rankings.  The University is ranked 201-301 in the world and Top 30 in the UK in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), known as the Shanghai Rankings. Leicester is placed 223rd in the 2019 QS World University Rankings, up an impressive 15 places from the previous year.
