RIBA Stirling Prize winner tours Landmark Engineering Building

Renowned architect Alex de Rijke who received the UK's top architecture honour in 2017, the RIBA Stirling Prize, for the design of Hastings Pier toured the landmark Engineering Building.

The Stirling-Gowan designed Grade II* Listed building was included by the Daily Telegraph in a national list of the fifty most famous structures in the UK, including Hadrian’s Wall and Stonehenge. Among its many other plaudits, it was listed top in Historic England’s list of best post-war buildings and was listed as one of the 'world's best unsung buildings' by The Guardian.

An ambitious project to replace the roof of the world-famous Building, which saw all the 2,500 glass panels of the diamond-shaped roof reconstructed and replaced to exacting standards, has recently been completed.

The tour took place on Monday 5 March.
