Singing Criminologist Ashleigh empowers with her music

Master’s student at Leicester Ashleigh Temperley recently created an original song entitled ‘People with Voices’ as part a creative module during her degree. However, for Ashleigh, the song’s purpose is far more than academic.

Ashleigh said: “I wrote the song as part of a reflective portfolio which is required for my Master’s degree. I’m studying ‘Criminology in Practice’, where the emphasis is on preparing for a career as an active practitioner or researcher. The purpose of the portfolio is to develop and express ideas about the path you want to take and why.

“My song ‘People with Voices’ is all about people who are rendered invisible by society, and also about how we can achieve social change through joining together and ‘shouting out’.”

Indeed, Ashleigh’s song has a far more personal connection than one might initially realise-  read more about Ashleigh's song here.
