Students advised on community engagement through faith-based activities

Our University is partnering with the St Philip’s Centre to mark national Interfaith Week. On Tuesday 14 November, the University with the Chaplaincy, student societies and St Philips will organise a student-centred event led by Dr. Tom Wilson, Director of the Centre, and other key speakers with the aim of engaging students in an informal discussion on faith and religious beliefs.

Speakers from different faiths will talk about their initiatives, such as support for the homeless, refugees and asylum seekers.

Dr Wilson said: “I am delighted to be participating in the significant event during interfaith week. I know that the University of Leicester has always taken relationships between and within the diverse faith communities of the city very seriously. It is brilliant to see students being given opportunities to engage practically with a range of speakers and have the chance to participate in the different activities conducted by the faith communities.”
