Prestigious scholarship for talented student with passion for engineering

Our University is celebrating future leaders and the benefits of pursuing a career in engineering by supporting young students with a passion for the field.

The Arkwright Scholarships Trust has conducted its annual award of prestigious Scholarships to future leaders of the engineering profession. 413 sixth form Scholarships are being awarded this year at Ceremonies in London and Edinburgh.

The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships act as a beacon to the most talented STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) students in UK schools and help to ensure that high-potential young people stay engaged in the engineering careers pipeline.

The University of Leicester attended the Arkwright Scholarships Trust’s 25th Anniversary Awards Ceremony on 28 October 2016 at IET Savoy Place, London, where they presented an award to a talented young student.

Joe Etchells, Marketing and Student Recruitment Manager in the College of Science and Engineering said: “We are delighted to once again be involved with the prestigious Arkwright Scholarships Trust. I had the pleasure of meeting our scholar, Darius, to present him with his award at the ceremony in London.

“Meeting him, alongside the many other gifted and talented Arkwright scholars, was a tremendous experience. The things they’ve achieved, both academically and in their extra-curricular activities, at such young ages is truly amazing. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Arkwright for many years to come.”

The Scholarships support students through their sixth form studies and encourage them into top universities or higher apprenticeships.
