Leicester ranks in top 10 UK universities for cheapest living costs
Our University has been ranked in the top 10 UK universities for cheapest living costs by credit card company Marbles.com.
The ranking calculates the 50 most affordable universities to study at in the UK by compiling a number of independent lists. To rank the universities they examined the prices for weekly rent, travel passes, gym membership, cinema prices, a pint and a kebab, with Leicester placing ninth overall.
Among the juicier findings of the survey is the tasty revelation that on average a kebab in Leicester costs about £4.43 - as much as £3.95 cheaper than other universities on the list.
Thomas Cross from Marbles.com said: "Towns in the North and Midlands offer great value for money to people who not only won't have that much spare cash, but will leave their university with quite a lot of debt. Those little treats, like a kebab or trip to the cinema, are really important to students, so it is definitely worth checking out our list to see where their money could go further!"
