Student fitness society looking for backing from Richard Branson
A student fitness organisation which started at Leicester is in with a chance of receiving £50,000 backing from Virgin's very own Richard Branson.
MASS (Muscle and Athletic Sports Society) is the brainchild of David Bissell, who graduated in Aerospace Engineering at Leicester in 2012, with the aim to challenge the stereotype about student lifestyles through fitness.
David started his fitness-based business at Leicester with support from the University’s Career Development Service who encouraged him to apply for a place on the Enterprise Inc. programme.
There are now MASS Societies at 25 UK Universities and student fitness competitions are held regularly to showcase their efforts. MASS also have their own magazine, StudyFit.
David's pitch has been submitted in the 'New Things' category in Virgin Media Business's Pitch to Rich 2015 competition. Out of hundreds of submissions, four budding entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to Richard Bransom himself for the chance to win the £50,000 investment, plus mentoring from Virgin’s investment team. Two runners-up will receive £10,000 cash investment each towards development.
