Managing a laugh students plan publicity campaign for Comedy Festival show
In the midst of Leicester Comedy Festival, students from our MA Media and Advertising and MSc Marketing programmes in our School of Management and Department of Media and Communication have collaborated on a live project to promote the first solo show by writer Viv Groskop at the festival on 15 February at 5pm at LCB Depot, Rutland St.
Our students have identified Viv’s potential customers and put together a promotional plan for the show. They have been working hard on distributing flyers around Leicestershire where they think her target market will be based and have circulated information online. Their aim is to help this to become a sell-out event, and encourage anyone who enjoys comedy shows to come along and spread the word.
Viv writes for the Guardian, appears on Radio 4’s Front Row and has written a book about the challenges of performing 100 stand-up gigs in 100 days. In her spare time she’s Artistic Director of the Bath Literature Festival. Viv’s Edinburgh Fringe show was rated 5* by Broadwaybaby.com and she’s been described as ‘brilliant’ by Jo Brand. Tickets are £5 and are available online or on 0116 2423596.
