Global Cinema
Module code: EN7301
Global Cinema examines the transnational nature of film production, reception and distribution, with a particular focus on the cinemas of the Global South and minority film cultures. Each week, we will explore different movements, conducting close analyses of individual films as case studies. The topics covered will vary each year but may include censorship, stardom, spectatorship, cultural hegemony, and resistance.
The module will also introduce you to key methodological and theoretical approaches in global cinema studies, as well as emerging questions such as the impact of streaming services on distribution dynamics.
