Europe is a patchwork of 50 sovereign states, and the political systems that underpin this vary considerably. Europe has both monarchies and republics, unicameral and bicameral legislatures, and ceremonial and powerful heads of state.

In this module, you'll look at and compare the political systems and institutions of European states. You'll examine their construction and how their design shapes political outcomes.
