You're coming to the end of your undergraduate study here at Leicester. The evidence-based practice dissertation gives you the chance to put all your learning into practice and undertake a substantive piece of research.

With guidance from your dissertation supervisor, you will identify a valid research topic on an area of physiotherapy that interests you. You will then undertake self-directed research over a sustained period, using the data gathered to inform and critique arguments which can inform professional practice.

At the end of the module, you will present a well-structured dissertation of 5,000 words and an oral presentation where you will defend your report, testing your understanding of your work and its context compared to existing research.

Producing and defending a substantial piece of original research will give you valuable organisation, planning, time management and communication skills. These will prove useful whether you move on to professional practice as a physiotherapist or continue on to further study.
