Foundations of Nursing Practice
Module code: NU1010 (double module)
In this introductory module, you will learn the underpinning concepts and key theories in nursing – which will aid your understanding of nursing and how you can optimise patient care. We will explore how physical, psychological and social issues influence essential care as well as the strategies used to ensure safe practice and the assessment of risk.
You will explore patient journeys during induction week – in which you will participate in an inter-professional ‘patient listening’ event with students from other health programmes, coming together to meet members of the College service user group. Finally, you will come together again with students from other departments to participate in an inter-professional simulation day which will involve role play with simulated patients at the end of your first year.
This module will be taught through a varied selection of lectures, seminars and workshops, problem based, case studies, online activities and flipped learning.
