Understanding evidence-based practice is a fundamental skill of the HR professional. In this module you'll develop the knowledge and methodological skills to undertake an independent piece of research in an area of your choice related to HRM and training. It provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired during the taught elements of the course.
You'll learn how to formulate a research question, review current knowledge on the topic, apply for ethical approval, design and organise the methodology, develop and implement research instruments as part of your own empirical research, conduct data analysis and write up the findings. A key part will be applying your research findings to practice and creating a set of recommendations for HR. Whilst undertaking this piece of research, you'll be assigned an academic supervisor who will guide and monitor you in the progression of your dissertation.
You'll gain important transferable skills in written communication, information handling, qualitative and quantitative analysis, problem-solving, numeracy and time management; invaluable in your future career as an HR professional.
