Year 2 Language Project
Module code: ML2014
This module offers you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of identity formation in the contexts of the societies around the world that communicate through your target languages. It enables you to grasp core concepts in the formulation and articulation of selfhood and social identities through intersectional frameworks — in other words, approaches to understanding 'the self' as an idea that is formulated at the crossroads of multiple, intertwined, mutually-informative, but often also conflicting ideas. Our work on this module will focus on matters of gender, race and class, and allow you to draw on your existing knowledge of global histories, societies and cultures as you learn how to outline and challenge dominant idea(l)s about human identities.
This module is assessed via a group project and presentation, and an individual coursework essay.
