Medicine: The Patient

Module code: MD0004 (double module)

Medicine requires understanding and application of empathy and compassion, and an understanding of the role of reflective practice.  Empathy will be discussed in detail in sessions with practising health professionals and developed during one-to-one facilitated learning. This module includes an overview of selected physiological, anatomical and pathological mechanisms underlying common disease states. 

The focus will be on the impact of disease on an individual, their family and the wider society, and how patient problems can be solved using investigative techniques.  This module will provide hands-on practical experience of interacting with patients and practice with actors in a variety of scenarios.
