Environmental, Climate Change and Sustainability Law

Module code: LW3631

The topics in this single-semester module examines the actors, processes, policy and governance and sectoral responses related to the specific challenges that relate to environmental law, climate change and sustainability. The learning develops through consideration of those topics in five distinct units:

  • Unit 1 Actors and processes
  • Unit 2 Climate
  • Unit 3 Waste
  • Unit 4 Conservation
  • Unit 5 Sustainability

This module is assessed by group coursework. There is also a practice assessment with feedback provided.

Students who complete this module should be able to:

  • Systematically understand key concepts of environmental law, policy, and governance
  • Critically evaluate arguments and theories concerning environmental law and environmentalism
  • Initiate research projects and work as group to manage their own learning
  • Deploy established techniques of enquiry to suggest solutions to pollution control, sustainability, and biodiversity to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
