Constitutional and Administrative Law is about the law and practice relating to how the United Kingdom is governed. This means it covers the fundamental rules of the country about who has political power to make decisions, what the limits of that power are and what rights individuals have. In most countries, many of these rules are contained in one written document, typically called a constitution.

This is not the case for the United Kingdom. Our rules are found in a variety of written sources and in the practices of those who govern the country - making this a complicated and often controversial subject. Much media reporting of constitutional law issues is wrong and one-sided, meaning commonplace assumptions about the constitution are often inaccurate.
