Computational Biology

Module code: EG3064

A complex multi-scale biology is integral to the healthy functionality of the human body. It is important to understand how gene interactions mediate cellular behaviour, and how networks of cells regulate tissue and organ functionality. This understanding necessitates computational biology. In this module, you will apply computational approaches for biological systems to capture key properties relevant to real-world biomedical engineering problems. You will use basic probability and statistics to interpret results of computational biology analysis and identify opportunities for reducing animals in biomedical research through computational approaches, whilst considering ethics, patient safety and risk.
