System Dynamics and Control
Module code: EG2302
Automatic control of engineering products is everywhere, from simple algorithms that regulate the temperature in standard kitchen ovens, to more sophisticated ones regulating the behaviour of aeroplanes. The fundamental concept on which such algorithms operate is feedback. Control engineering is responsible for the maths that allows feedback systems to be analysed and designed, paying special attention to two fundamental properties - stability and performance.
In this module you'll start by learning how to model engineering systems and how to control them using these specialist maths methods. It gives you an introduction to the discipline that all Engineers need, and is the starting point if you want to specialise in this area.
