The Transformation of Modern Warfare
Module code: PL7532
During this module you’ll be critically engaging with a number of contemporary arguments about the transformation of war and conflict in the developing world and the developed world, and with the 'new war' debate. This will involve looking at the 'traditional' approaches to the causes of war and the conditions of peace in international relations.
You’ll move on to look at important new arguments about the causes and motivations of war in the developing world, former Yugoslavia, and behind many of the wars that the West has waged since the end of the Cold War.
Identifying and critically analysing key academic literature on the subject of the transformation of warfare will be an important part of your research, and you’ll be combining theoretical analysis with empirical detail on appropriate case studies.
