Clinical Skills: Appendicular Anatomy

Module code: PH1001

In this module, you will gain an understanding of the anatomy of the appendicular skeleton - the bones of the shoulder girdle, the upper limbs, the pelvic girdle and the lower limbs.

Through practical classes and guided study, you will learn about the osteology, arthrology, myology and neurology of the upper and lower limbs. You will develop vital palpation and handling skills which will help you identify bony landmarks, joint lines, soft tissues and neural structures and explore accessory and physiological movements of the joints. You will discover how to analyse the movement of the upper and lower limbs when taking part in simple functional activities. Plus, you will study the application of the anatomical knowledge gained during this module to basic clinical scenarios you will encounter.
