Organisations in Economic Context

Module code: MN3127

Businesses and organisations don't exist in a vacuum. Political ideas and theories become powerful, shape economic policies and have a huge impact on businesses, organisations and society at large. This module focuses on contemporary political-economic debates, such as Brexit and protectionism, and will give you an insight into the context behind the major issues of our time.

By the end of this module, you will be able to define key ideas in political economy that have shaped organisations and discuss how these have shaped global relationships and tensions. You will be capable of explaining the ways in which agents and agencies have sought to promote and defend their economic ideas and interests. You'll be adept at analysing the changing effect on organisations of the interaction of economic ideas with society at large. Plus, you'll be able to critique the status of key economic ideas within organisations and contemporary society.
